They would never talk about what their alleged values were. But we all know what they were: abominable gays cannot marry, abortion must be banned, liberals are dragging us down, and the U.S. is a Christian country.

So, while we're bemoaning the current state of affairs, you know, like Hitler did, we need to actually be succinct about what those affairs are.

In example: is cohabiting immoral? Is being openly gay immoral?

The crime rates have been going down for some time, so what does that have to do with morality? Are people actually becoming more moral or are they doing immoral things that aren't illegal? Is it immoral to get yourself a huge CEO salary and then bail out on the bankrupt company?

In order to come to a conclusion about rising and falling morality, you have to measure an inconceivable number of instances, and then you'll probably base what is moral or immoral upon your own moral code, whether religious or personal, and getting people to agree on what's moral is going to be quite difficult.

Is it moral to murder? How about if you're a soldier in Afghanistan? Is it moral to have too much while others starve? In that case, we really are going downhill.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08513429496023650539noreply@blogger.com
